Flux Video is a new app for creating and sharing short videos, hoping to cash in on the popularity of the short format video apps like Tiktok and Snapchat.
Flux is targeting mainly a younger generation therefore they want to be viewed as energetic, dynamic, and modern. These qualities should be translated through colours used in the logo.
They have not yet designed the app but hope this logo design will help pitch the idea to future investors to gain funding to start development.
The Concept
From the beginning, I was drawn to the idea of the play button to represent the video aspect either as a symbol on its own or as part of the letter x. I believed the logo would also incorporate a bold choice of colour and the use of gradients
The combined use of gradient colours and the play button would also help enforce the concept of motion.
Experimenting with Colour
I selected a bright colourful colourful palete to experiment with. The use of the bright bold colours was to bring in the youthful look. After a few trials it became apparent that too much colour overwhelmed the logo and by simplifying the colour whilst still using some of the bright colours proved to be a better combination.
Challenge
The biggest challenge was to maintain the clarity of the play button whilst keeping it simplistic and minimal. Too many ideas was a problem, after adding colour a clearer concept became apparent.
